You can't, you go to the edge of the stairs as soon as you do anything but the book.

It's a stall with the book, I'll get a picture of me doing it..
it allows you to noclip a wall to get to the destination you actually clicked to go to, but the interface stopped him.
if he attacks it, he will be shot back in front of the stairs.
